Preplanning does not need to begin with a purchase or a complete set of decisions. It can start by reviewing service paths, recording what matters to you, identifying the people who should be involved, and gathering information your family may otherwise have to find under pressure.
What you can decide in advance
Consider burial or cremation, visitation, ceremony style, clergy or celebrant, music and readings, people to notify, obituary details, merchandise preferences, cemetery or memorial plans, webcasting, and who should receive cremated remains. Preferences can be as specific or flexible as you want.
Organize documents without oversharing
Keep important records in a secure location and tell a trusted person where they are. The website form intentionally does not request Social Security numbers, medical records, payment-card information, or other sensitive data that is not needed for an initial conversation.
